SUMMARY:Our Director to Join EPA Webinar On Microplastics
DESCRIPTION:Our executive director\, Dr. Charlie Rolsky\, The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) Trash Free Waters Program is hosting a webinar on micro- and nanoplastics in human health as part of the Trash Free Waters webinar series.  The webinar is tentatively scheduled for November 30\, 2023 from 12:00p.m-1:30pm ET.   The agenda will include several speakers followed by approximately 20 minutes for questions and discussion. \nThe goal of this webinar is to give an overview of human exposure to and health impacts from micro- and nano-plastics\, including an examination of how specific bodily systems are (or may be) affected by plastic pollution. Furthermore\, as a background\, the draft learning objectives of the webinar are as follows: \n\nDefines micro- and nanoplastics and their sources\nDescribe how humans are exposed to these pollutants including inhalation and ingestion\, noting the high concentration in food items and water sources.\nExplore the evidence between plastics’ interaction with biological functions\, both of animals and humans\nIndicate what human systems are at-risk including respiratory\, immune\, digestive\, reproductive\, and nervous systems.\nExplain the current field of research and how these findings are being determined.\n\nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER
